With a heavy heart, today - August 14th, we remember the 16th year anniversary of Sencholai massacre. Sri Lankan Air Force bombed an orphanage in Mullaitivu: killing 51 children and 4 staff, and injuring more than 129.
Most of the children killed or seriously injured were from neighboring schools. They were visiting the orphanage for a 10-day resident seminar: attending a residential course on Leadership, Self-Awareness, and a First Aid workshop.
Heavy aerial bombardment on the premises clearly indicates that the attack was premeditated deliberate and vicious. This attack is not merely atrocious and inhuman - it clearly has a genocidal intent.
Names of those who were victims of this state terrorism.
This is another example of the failure of UN bodies to act constitutes a violation of their duties. We are still waiting for the perpetrators to be prosecuted.
Today we also take a minute to remember the Nagerkoil School bombing in 1995 that took the lives of 25 schoolchildren. https://tamilnation.org/indictment/genocide95/gen95022.htm
