Vediyarasan Fort in Neduntheevu [Delft Island] - a new place of recruitment for land genocide by the Sri Lankan Sinhala Chauvinist state. Is this a fort or a stupa as they claim?
This island has 2 forts: - one main fort -another small fort-like structure in the North West corner of the island known as Vediyarasan fort - belongs to the long king Vediarasan. This is the structure now being claimed as a stupa.
According to 'detailed studies', they claim these are 3 ancient Buddhist Stupas. If there is an unbiased study that will be done to prove this is indeed a stupa, not a fort, this does NOT claim this land belongs to Sinhalese! We, Tamils, should KNOW that many ancient Theravada Buddhist scholars were Tamil & Buddhism played a huge role in the Tamil cultural history of South India during the first millennium. Just as Christian clerics chose Latin as their universal language, Buddhist monks chose the Pali language, not ethnic or native languages. If Pali language is found on these remains, this does NOT mean it's Sinhala land. It could be easily a Tamil Buddhist land! Another example is Kandarodai Viharai which belongs to the Tamil Buddhists and has been now taken over by the Sinhalese Buddhists now!
