Story of another stolen identity of Tamil [land & history]
Kulakkottan [சோழகங்க தேவன், known as குளக்கோட்டன்] was a Chola king who ruled Trincomalee. Now, Sinhala chauvinism has changed his name to King Aggabodhi. Kulakkottan is now known as Aggabodhi & to affirm this further, they even changed the nearby village name to Aggbopura.
Kulakkottan was mentioned in chronicles such as the Yalpana Vaipava Malai and stone inscriptions like Konesar Kalvettu. He got his name from the work he has done for the people: building tanks [dams] and temples.
Kulakkottan was the son of Vararamatevan, ruler of Chola Nadu and Madurai. When they both arrived in Trincomalee, found the Koneswaram temple destroyed by the Buddhist King Mahasena. They both restored it. He also built the Kantale Dam at Trincomalee in 438 CE, and the Munneswaram temple on the west coast.
A Tamil Chola King & his history has been now changed to a Sinhala version. We have been losing not only land but history as well.
